Community

More Than a Team. A Lifelong Network.

The Sarasota Sharks community doesn’t end when the final race is swum or the last practice whistle blows. It carries forward—through friendships, shared memories, and a common bond built in the water.

Whether you swam for one summer or one decade, whether you raced for fun or chased championships, you are part of the Sharks family. The lanes may have changed. The decades may have passed. But the connection remains.

This page is about that connection—who we are now, together.

A Community That Spans Generations

For more than 65 years, the Sarasota Sharks have brought together swimmers, coaches, families, and volunteers from every walk of life. Some alumni remember early-morning practices and long car rides to meets. Others remember friendships that lasted far beyond the pool deck.

Our alumni include:

  • Summer league swimmers and age-group athletes

  • State, national, and international competitors

  • Coaches, officials, and volunteers

  • Parents and supporters who made it all possible

Different paths. One shared identity.

Reconnect With Fellow Sharks

The Sharks Alumni Community exists to help you find each other again.

Reconnect with:

  • Former teammates and relay partners

  • Coaches who shaped your journey

  • Friends you haven’t seen in years—but still remember instantly

We invite all alumni to join our official Sarasota Sharks Alumni LinkedIn Group, a professional and social space to reconnect, share updates, celebrate milestones, and strengthen our network beyond the pool.

Once a Shark. Always a Shark.

Stories That Continue Beyond the Pool

Every Shark has a story worth telling.

From leadership roles and service careers to entrepreneurship, coaching, and community impact, our alumni continue to make a difference in the world. The Community page celebrates those journeys—how lessons learned in the water carried forward into life.

In the months ahead, we’ll be highlighting:

  • Alumni spotlights and “Where Are They Now?” features

  • Personal reflections from different eras of the club

  • Stories of mentorship, leadership, and lifelong friendships

If you have a story to share, we’d love to hear it.

Giving Back—In Many Forms

Being part of the Sharks community doesn’t come with an obligation—but it does come with opportunity.

Alumni support the program in many ways:

  • Mentoring younger swimmers

  • Volunteering time or expertise

  • Advocating for water safety and access

  • Supporting special initiatives or future growth

However you choose to stay connected, your presence matters.

A Living Community

This is not a static page. It will grow and evolve—just like the Sharks themselves.

The Community page exists to remind us that while records may fade and decades pass, the bond remains. What started in the pool became something larger: a shared experience, a shared standard, and a shared sense of belonging.

Welcome back to the community.
